Gul Khan & Dipti Kalwani Talk About Their Show ‘Namak Ishq Ka’

Namak Ishq Ka recently premiered on a leading TV channel on December 7. Director and producer Gul Khan and Dipti Kalwani in an exclusive interview with India TV spoke about their show. They also spoke about the safety in Mumbai and Noida. Read further to know what they had to say about their new show Namak Ishq ka.

Dipti Kalwani and Gul Khan talk about their new show Namak Ishq Ka 

Gul and Dipti said that they made some kickass promo videos for which they got a huge response. Talking about Monalisa, Dipti said that she is a very talented actor. Gul Khan said that Monalisa as Dayan had nailed her role and thus they thought that she would be perfect for the role. While talking about portraying  Monalisa as mother-in-law, Dipti said that previously she played a glamourous role as Dayan and it is the job of an actor to adapt as per the show’s needs. “Monalisa looks perfect as a mother in law in Namak Ishq Ka”, she said.

She said that their first choice for the lead role was Shruti. They had previously shot Nazar 2 with her but it never got aired and so they wanted to give her another chance. Shruti has innocent looks as well as she would look hot while dancing as an item dancer. They needed a combination of both in their lead actor and thus chose Shruti to play Chamcham.

Dipti mentioned that Bihari and Bhojpuri actors are extremely talented and they wanted to give them a chance. Most of the cast on the serial is from the north. Talking about the male lead, Dipti said that Aditya Ojha is a popular name in the Bhojpuri industry. They were looking for someone who doesn’t look too modern. They wanted him to have a good hold on the Bhojpuri language. Dipti added that Aditya Ojha fitted perfectly for the role.

While talking about the plot of the show, Gul said that the show is intriguing as the audience might wonder that a man who cares so much about his family’s status and respect, gets married to a dancer at his own wedding. Dipti added that the show will not be a typical saas-bahu show. It will have a lot of twists and turns and a lot of Romance in which Gul specialises.

When asked about the issues with the casting, Gul said that they wanted to explore the actors from UP and Bihar. Dipti added that it wasn’t very tough to chose them as they were already very talented. Talking about the new film city which is being planned, Dipti and Gul said that they wouldn’t be very comfortable shooting in Noida or Delhi. The women in the industry will not be feeling safe working late nights in such an unsafe environment.
