International Emmy Awards 2021: Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sushmita, Vir Das Hope To Make India Proud

The international Emmy Awards are all set and will be held on November 23 according to IST. It’s the 49th Edition taking place at New York City. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sushmita Sen and Vir Das are hoping to make the country proud with a big win for their performances.

The International Emmys 2021 will be presented by Yvonne Orji along with other presenters, which includes Aidan Quinn, Brian d’Arcy James, Vanessa Williams, Method Man, Piper Perabo, Emeraude Toubia, Wilson Cruz, Felipe Santana and Angelica.

Vir Das is extremely happy to be nominated for International Emmys and he didn’t expect it. No, he doesn’t expect to be served dinner on most nights. So he didn’t expect this. But he’s very excited to be nominated for Indian comedy.

Vir is nominated alongside some bigwigs, made on a mammoth budget. Talking about the thrill of that, Vir said they did one digital show with one guy sitting in front of a blue door and then to get an Emmy nomination along with these other shows that have a $2-3 million budget! Apna darwaza toh Rs 10,000 ka tha.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui too has made it to the Emmy’s nominations and shared the nomination for Serious Men has made him feel validated that he’s not part of any rat race to win an award and he’s doing a lot of films for digital space. He’s sitting here because of digital space. The digital platforms have given all international recognition. They get to showcase their talent there for the whole world to see. In his statement, he was talking about some production houses that randomly make anything. It was taken out of context and his intention was never to say that he wants to quit the digital space. He just doesn’t want to do anything that looks like a serial.

It’s very easy for Nawazuddin Siddiqui to say ‘No’. He just says ‘No’ without any hesitation. He doesn’t trouble himself with these things. He only does films that he likes and feels like doing. He’s never in the awe of any big star. He’s only in the awe of his character. Whether or not he will be able to play that character properly, that’s more important for him.

Sushmita Sen digital show is among the four nominees in the Best Drama category. Directed by Ram Madhvani, the digital series also starred Chandrachud Singh and Sikander Kher. It’s an official remake of the popular Dutch series Penoza. The other shows nominated in this category are Chile’s El Presidente, Israel’s Tehran and UK’s There She Goes Season 2.
