Mathil Teaser: KS Ravikumar As A Common Man Fighting For His Rights Will Tug At Your Heartstrings

The much-awaited teaser of the new Tamil film Mathil is out and it is everything we expected it to be. Starring veteran director KS Ravikumar as a lovable common man Mathil, directed by Mithran R Jawahar, Mathil tells the story of the fight for justice. Mithran, who is known for making heart-touching dramas like Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Uthamaputhiran, and Kutty, seems to be back at it with this social comedy-drama, the teaser of which overflows with emotions. The ZEE 5 original film will premiere on April 14 on the occasion of Tamil New Year, and we can’t keep calm.

Set to be a cornerstone of KS Ravikumar’s acting career, the veteran director dons the role of Lakshmikanthan, a common man for whom his house means everything. The movie is set to be a comedy-drama with satirical elements which is bound to have a pinch of social commentary about the present-day politics in the country. Produced by Singa Sankaran under the banner of SS Group, the film also features talented actors like Mime Gopi, Kathadi Ramamurthy and Lollu Sabha Swaminathan, and comedy stars like the Bigg Boss contestant Madhumita. The cinematography for this social commentary is done by G.Balamurugan.

The story revolves around Lakshmikanthan, a retired Insurance officer who builds his dream house with his retirement benefits. However, he ends up having his dream shattered when a political party takes his wall against his will for their Election campaign. Upon his protest, the wall is demolished by the cadre.  Lakshmikanthan, an ethical hardworking senior citizen is left to feel small, humiliated, and thus decides to teach the politician a lesson. The underdog’s fight against the powerful and privileged leader forms the rest of the film.

A man’s house is his dream, and the same resonates through its story. The movie communicates the power of a common man in the digital age. The movie revolves around Lakshmikanthan’s words, “EN SUVAR, EN URIMAI” which translates to “My wall is my Right”. KS Ravikumar even posted a couple of videos on his Twitter page as the character talking about his rights which created a buzz.

Made as a direct to digital film, Mathil is set to release on April 14 on the Tamil New Year. ZEE5 is known for releasing quality content driven originals like Ka Pae Ranasingam, Lock Up and Mathil will be the latest addition to this list. The teaser of the film promises the same.
