Being an engaging political thriller, Naxalbari also stands out as a nail-biting action drama with some finely crafted action sequences. Here are some of its best scenes

Since Zee5 released its original web series Naxalbari, it’s been a trending topic all over the space of Indian Entertainment, dominating our filmy conversations with friends and family. And it completely deserved to do so as it has successfully provided the viewers with a real and impactful vision of the long-ranging Naxal movement of the nation. And at the same time, it has balanced its cinematic essence keeping viewers glued to their screens.

The series, which has managed to essay different sides of the story, was nothing more than a mirror to the society. It has made us aware of the world which was misrepresented by polarized media. In a way, it has shaped our perspective by getting us close to reality. And such shows deserve to be applauded. With critics showering it with love, we also want to highlight the fact that Naxalbari also stands out as a nail-biting action thriller with some finely crafted action sequences.

While this particular element of the show remains below the surface, we bring you a list of 7 intriguing scenes from Naxalbari that kept us at the edge of our seats. Take a look:

1.The Sugar Coated Beginning

In the first episode, we see a local minister on his way to the rural zone where the FICA project is scheduled to be set up. The minister is being interviewed by a few journalists in his car, where he is talking about FICA in detail and emphasizing the points that this project is the beginning of new development. As soon as the viewers are getting informed about the plot setting, the car blasts up and all the Naxals cover up the spot giving the viewers a gist of what’s coming next.

2.Introducing the Protagonist

Though Naxalbari is essayed through different perspectives, its main character is Raghav (Rajeev Khandelwal) an STF agent, and what would be better than introducing the man on the mission. In the first episode itself, Raghav is tackling a group of people involved in a crime where he impersonates as a government clerk to get through this gang with a face-off. And this small yet well-crafted scene makes us aware of Raghav as a man dedicated to his work.

3.Twist Of A Tale

An action-thriller is incomplete without an unexpected twist in the plot and talking about Naxalbari, it is the shift in Ketki’s (Tina Datta) character that left us all with a shocker. And that comes at a crucial point in the story. Although being just a three-minute scene, it is directed in a way that the viewers are completely hooked and they start making assumptions. When Ketki and Raghav confront each other pointing out their guns, it was definitely a vital moment of the show that acted as a teaser for the final act.

4.Force Vs Naxals

When the force takes a step further to save their colleague in trouble, it is bound to be a deadly duel. At dawn, in the midst of the forest, the force takes over the Naxal camp in order to save Raghav. And this is the scene where we actually see the title ‘Naxalbari’ coming to life. This scene also makes it clear that in order to craft a great action sequence you don’t always need to colour the scene with blood and unnecessary smoke. The scene stands out with realism and emotional connection.

5.Clash Of Ideologies

The clash of ideologies is an important theme essayed in Naxalbari and painting it in an action sequence would have been quite a task. And in Naxalbari, this element comes alive when the two cops from opposite ideologies are seen driving through a forest later getting attacked by Naxals. And with this scene comes another big twist in the plot as we see a divide in the force itself, hinting at a long battle of the caste system prevailing in the nation.

6.Beginning Of An End

There’s a phrase that repeats throughout all the episodes which go as, “Ant Hi Prarambh Hai” and there’s a scene just before the final act which does justice to this phrase. And this is not an action sequence yet it is the best scene of the show as we see Keswani (Aamir Ali) shifting sides as well as the whole narrative of Naxalbari. In this scene, Keswani talks about his past life and how he’s a part of the revolution and is in fact the one actually leading it.

7.The Final Act

In the final act, the protagonist Raghav and the newly introduced antagonist Keswani confront each other. This scene concludes the promising story of Naxalbari with an undefined ending. It is not a usual story where the hero kills the villain. In the final act, Raghav tries his best to tackle Keswani but is unable to do so as he escapes. The final act of Naxalbari was on point, and at the end, Raghav shooting Ketki hints at a new chapter altogether.

And all these scenes combined with an engaging storyline made Naxalbari an intriguing watch. We are hoping that there’s a season 2 of Naxalbari.

Naxalbari now streaming on Zee5.
