Subbu doesn’t let society have a say in Anu’s life
Subbu shields Anu from the comments of the world so she can go do her thing. Whenever his neighbours pass comments on Anu coming home late or her roaming around with guys, it hurts Subbu and Pushpa but he always makes sure that Anu doesn’t have to deal with this. He brushes off those comments, and we know it can be difficult.
Subbu is ahead of his times
The majority of the people in today’s world still value their reputation in society over their happiness, which is never the case with Subbu. Subbu is a visionary of sorts, who makes sure that his family and he are never tied down by the shackles of society. Unlike Raghupathi, he is willing to stake his respect in the colony if it means that Anu will have a bright future. The fact that he always prefers Anu having a bright career, over her getting married speaks volumes.

Subbu tries his best to understand Anu
The background that Subbu comes from often consists of people who would want their daughters to get married to a guy that they have chosen for her. Raghupathi even slaps Ramya when he thinks that she is crossing her boundaries but Subbu strives to keep Anu happy by trying to find out if she is in love with someone. He even went to the extent of wanting to talk to Neel’s family because he thought Anu liked him.
