Nia mentioned in one of her interviews that she had to fight producers for payment at the beginning of her career. She stated that when TV actors work on a daily basis and are taken for granted by producers and network executives, it often comes as a surprise to them. She continued by saying that they work hard and then want to beg for money. She was in a similar situation and overcame it. She had to stand outside the studio, and whether you call it her childish behavior or not, she gave an ultimatum that she would not work unless and until she received her money. Because there was no other way for me to get paid, she issued demands.

She went on to say that she had to work in appalling conditions. She couldn’t think of any other word to describe it. They mistreat them and treat them as if they are slaves. They arrive at 9.00 a.m. and leave at 9.00 p.m., and if they do not complete their shoot by 9.00 p.m., they will be labelled unprofessional. She also revealed that she had to ‘beg’ for payment despite working diligently. She, on the other hand, stood firm.
