Ponniyin Selvan (PS-1): It’s A Wrap For Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Starrer; Team Shares First Look Poster Of The Magnum Opus

The star studded project having Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead had itself created a big stir. This star cast will not only have talents but also bring every character to life on-screen. This historical drama has finally wrapped up their shooting schedule and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan announced it with a new poster on her social media.

The new poster of the sword having a black and golden colour scheme has ‘Filming Complete’ marked on it. Netizens were quick enough to react on the same showing their excitement and how they’re looking forward for the film.

The shoot schedule started its journey from Puducherry and then shifted to Hyderabad. Aishwarya also shot for the Maheshwar song in Madhya Pradesh with 400 junior artists with her. The team ensured that both each one had taken both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine. The team also went through the Covid-19 test on a daily basis.

Ponniyin Selvan’ is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel. Aishwarya Rai will be seen in a double role of a princess and of a queen.

Aishwarya was accompanied by husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya. The trio had also visited actor R Sarathkumar’s family there. Post the visit, R Sarathkumar’s daughter Varalaxmi had penned an appreciation post for the Bachchans

The movie is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 Tamil novel “Ponniyin Selvan”. The book chronicles the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.

Ratnam has co-written the film’s screenplay with Elango Kumaravel. B Jeyamohan has been credited as the dialogue writer on the movie. The film’s music has been scored by Ratnam’s frequent collaborator and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. Cinematographer Ravi Varman has shot the film.

“Ponniyin Selvan” is set to be released theatrically in 2022.
