Director Shoojit Sircar had earlier announced Vicky Kaushal’s starrer Sardar Udham Singh back in 2019. But, because of the pandemic, the release of the film got delayed and now its makers have decided on a digital release. Sardar Udham Singh will directly be available for streaming at the weekend during this Dussehra next month. The release date for Sardar Udham Singh is October 16. However, the film is a biopic based on the real-life story of a revolutionary freedom fighter of the same name and Vicky Kaushal will essay his role on screen.Sardar Udham Singh will mark Vicky Kaushal and Shoojit Sircar’s first collaboration. The pictures of Vicky Kaushal in the skin of Sardar Udham Singh have been making rounds on the internet and the audience is supremely excited for the film to be launched. While the film was shot in 2019, it went for post-production and now, the virus has still surrounded the globe, it is suspected that the film will have an OTT release. As per the reports, from a leading daily, the movie is said to have a big budget.

The film is based on revolutionary fighter Sardar Udham Singh who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in British India in 1940, to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film is released under the banner of Rising Sun Films Production and supported by Ronnie Lahiri and Sheel Kumar.

The actor was highly appreciated previously for his performances in movies like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Raazi, Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship, Sanju, Manmarziyaan, Lust Stories and many others.
