At the Marh family kitchen, Batasi mentions seeing Malati meet with Nilmani at Seresta. Rani overhears the conversation and asks Chandra to investigate the matter in secret. Chandra goes to Seresta and learns that Nilmani has shifted from Arat to Seresta. Chandra notices Nilmani appearing visibly tensed. Khudiram worries about being able to make ends meet with only a small piece of land gifted by Sukhlal. He tells Chandramani that he’ll go to Sripur to find work as a Jajmani, a family-priest.
