Kurukshetra is a larger-than-life historical written by J.K Bharavi and directed by Naganna. The story, which is told from Duryodhana’s perspective, is based on the epic poem Gadhayuddha by Ranna. Kurukshetra stars Darshan who plays the protagonist, Sneha as Draupadi and Arjun Sarja as Karna, to name a few.
Here are few of the scenes that will leave a tremendous impact on you:
When Duryodhana is termed the crown prince of Hastinapura. The scene of the crown put at the foot of Duryodhana has been well performed by Darshan as it brings about a feeling of rage as well as excitementa among the viewers. It also creates a sense of curiosity that something big is about to happen next.
The war between Duryodhana and Bhima, which is called the Gaddha Yuddha, is one of the most intense scenes in the film. Duryodhana, played by Darshan and Bhima played by Danish Akhtar Saifi, show two equally powerful forces who fight against one another to win the throne of Hastinapur. Bhima tries to defeat Duryodhana but cannot defeat him because of the strength that has been given to Duryodhana by Gandhari. The war between the two makes for an interesting watch.
Yudhisthir loses Draupadi in a game of dice to his cousins and they all decide to disrobe her. In the song, Yelliruve Hariye, Sneha aka Draupadi asks Krishna to save her from getting disrobed. The scene builds up to make the viewers angry and sad at the same time when she insults the pandavas for not being able to save her and seeks Krishna’s help to save her from getting disrobed. This scene is beautifully choreographed to showcase her helplessness and pain.
Shakuni, played by V. Ravishankar, is one of the most important characters in Kurukshetra. In a mission to destroy Hastinapura, he tries to poison the mind of Duryodhana by instigating him to fight the war with the Pandavas. He is the mastermind of the Kurukshetra war. The subtlety with which Shakuni instigates Duryodhana makes this scene a memorable and must-watch one.
The emotional scene between Karna and his mother Kunti evokes a certain sadness within the audience with Arjun Sarja playing the humble character of Karna. Cursed to lose his knowledge during his war with Arjuna, Kunti cries in front of Karna telling him that after all he is her son. Karna says that it is unfortunate that he cannot call her his mother. This scene will leave the viewers emotional for sure.
