The Power

Director Manish Tiwary’s Indian adaptation of William Shakespeare’s romantic epic, Romeo and Juliet, was set amidst the sand mafia of modern-day Banaras. Two influential Banarasi families, Kashyaps and Mishras are at war with each other for the sand mafia trade, while their children Bachchi and Rahul, portrayed by Prateik Babbar and Amyra Dastur, fall for each other. What comes next is, of course, the rebel by the love birds.
Saudagar
The multi-starrer, Saudagar is centred around the rivalry between Veer Singh (Dilip Kumar) and Rajeshwar Singh (Raaj Kumar), two childhood friends who turned sworn enemies. What happens when their grandkids fall in love is what follows the plot. Saudagar is one of the most ideal examples of lovers affected by their families. It is also the film that gave the new generation a different way of declaring their love, by saying ‘ILU ILU‘.
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
How can we talk about epic love stories and not include Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in the list? This iconic film from the 80’s Bollywood, inspired by Romeo and Juliet, is a story of two lovers whose families share an ugly past. The movie popularly known as QSQT was a huge success at the box office.
