For anyone who identifies with the dreams of a middle-class family in India, Ramaswamy’s life would be no less than a biopic of their neighbours or their own lives. We all know someone who aspires to establish a successful business and make something for themselves. Just like them, Ramaswamy is trying his luck with catapulting himself into the upper-middle class, with a successful saree business.

Another aspect that makes his story relatable is that all he wants is to marry that one woman he loves, and have a relationship that is strong and admirable. Most of us have grown up with mythological stories and it makes sense that he refers to Lord Ram and Sita as a couple that he looks up to. Time and again, elders from your native place will say that they hope you find a relationship like this. However, reality hits him hard when this is taken away from him and he has to get married to two more women. After all, when has life ever gone as you would hope?
