Bollywood Trivia: Did You Know Kajol Never Wanted To Act?

Kajol is one of the most successful actresses of all time and is in a way legend in the Bollywood industry. She has acted in cult films like Baazigar, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. But we could have missed out on this gem, had it not been fate playing its part.

Kajol in a recent interview revealed that she was not keen to work in films like her family. She said that she always thought that she never wants to be a part of the film industry because she had seen her father and mother work for long hours and she never wanted to do so. She wanted a monthly paycheque and a job where working hours were between 9 to 6. But that wasn’t supposed to happen.

She went with her cousin, who wanted to shoot a portfolio for herself. There a celebrity makeup artist, Mickey Contractor, told her to also pose for a photoshoot. Then she was approached by a producer who cast her in his film and that is how Kajol‘s journey in Bollywood started. She added that her father had warned her and said that once you get painted in the colours of films, you will never be able to wash it away. Although Kajol insisted then that she was different, today she admits that her father was right.

The legendary actress also talks about her mother’s long hours and said that he mother says for 12 years she had only seen her children sleeping as she wasn’t present during the other times. Kajol talks about the debate on outsiders and insiders of the industry and says that the path is always difficult for everyone and the pitfalls and the problems are different for everyone. While children of the film family have a lot of expectations on them, outsiders don’t have contacts.
