His mother, too, cautioned him to stay ready for comparisons and told him to not expect the same success as his father. And so, he didn’t make much of a spectacle for his first movie to see how the people received it without the support of his father. The movie worked well, and the rest is history.
The actor is fondly called DQ and Kunjikka by his fans. While he doesn’t know the story behind the name DQ and how Kunjikka came out, he says it reflects his fans’ love. For the name Kunjikka, he says that his friends gave him this nickname when he was in the fourth standard as they found his name difficult to pronounce. Did you know his friends also call him Dhulki?
The audience is yet to see the father-son duo appear on screen together. Many filmmakers have gone to them with scripts, but he has turned them all down. All because DQ feels he will find the comparisons unacceptable. He is waiting for a script that will truly pose a special challenge to both of them. He likes to spend time with the children, and he is often seen at SOS children’s village. During covid-19 as well, the actor had raised funds with HelpAge India.
He is the director of Mammotty’s Motherhood Hospital to provide maternity care to people.
