Did You Know That Madhuri Dixit And Raveena Tandon Had Turned Down Hum Saath Saath Hain?

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is known for having created several family-based films such as Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, Hum Saath – Saath Hain and more. Actresses Karishma Kapoor, Sonali Bendre, and Tabu became the faces of the three lead female characters of Hum Saath – Saath Hain. However, there were two other leading Bollywood actresses of the time who were offered two of those roles – Madhuri Dixit and Raveena Tandon.

Actress Madhuri Dixit was offered to play the role of Sadhna, the eldest daughter-in-law and wife of Vivek, who was played by actor Mohnish Behl. However, Madhuri Dixit did not sign for the film and rejected the offer to play the role instead. It is believed, that she did so because she was not interested in playing a role opposite Mohnish Behl, which would showcase her as an elder sister-in-law of Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan on the big screen. On the other hand, Madhuri had been cast in leading roles opposite both Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan as their primary love interests. Actress Tabu was offered the role, which she accepted to play.

Similarly, Raveena Tandon was also offered the film, but for a different role. The actress had been considered for the role of Dr Preeti, the wife of Prem (essayed by Salman Khan). However, even Raveena declined the offer to sign for the film. The reason behind her declination was her belief that a multi-starrer film would not benefit her acting career. Raveena Tandon had already solidified her mark in Hindi cinema with several other films by then. Additionally, the role of Dr Preeti was not the most significant one either. Considering all these points, the actress said no to the offer. Later, actress Sonali Bendre was cast for the role instead.
