21 years after the release of one of the most iconic comedy Hindi films, Hera Pheri, the film’s producer Firoz A Nadiadwala alleged that the movie’s director Priyadarshan “left the project midway.” He mentioned in an interview with Mid-day that he kept silent all these years out of respect for the director and also because the film became a big-time hit. But now, he is opening up because Priyadarshan earlier spoke about turning down the sequel and the upcoming third part of the franchise.

According to Mid-day, Nadiadwala said, “How can he talk about turning down our offer to direct the second and upcoming third part, when he did not even complete the first film?” As per reports, he further mentioned that Priyadarshan’s version of the film had a run time of three hours and 40 minutes and was filled with “depressing scenes.” He also alleged that the director was “absent during background music recording and dubbing.”
Due to the depressing scenes, the film strayed away from the comedy genre. Later the makers added a lot of funny and romantic scenes, keeping the ideal genre in mind. After Priyadarshan’s exit, the film was cut down to a runtime of 130 minutes, and two songs were added.

The sequel was directed by late filmmaker and writer Neeraj Vora who according to Nadiadwala totally changed the film by adding a lot of punchlines.
Hera Pheri featured Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in key roles and became one of the most popular comedy films of all time. Some of the dialogues from the film are trendy even today and are often seen in memes on social media.
As per reports, so far Priyadarshan has not spoken about allegations made against him.
