Here’s why Selena Gomez is giving away her ‘Most Followed Celebrity’ tag on Instagram

Selena Gomez is feeling fatigued from her addiction to Instagram.

She has said it felt like she was seeing things that she did not want to see like putting things in her head that she did not want to “care about”.

Talking about her experience on social media, the singer and actor said, “I get it all day, every day that I’m not sexy enough or I’m not cool enough, or if I did this I would be accepted. I promise you that each and every one of you is made to be who you are and that is what’s so attractive and beautiful.”

In a conversation with Vogue in 2017, the young actor had revealed that as soon as she became the most followed person on the photo-sharing site, she “sort of freaked out”. She said that it became “so consuming” to her as the platform is what she woke up to and went to sleep to.

In 2016, Selena Gomez was crowned the ‘most-followed’ Instagram celebrity. Popular celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Dwayne Johnson and even Cristiano Ronaldo were left behind in the race.

One of the most talented and popular singers and actors in the Hollywood entertainment industry expressed her feelings about the toxic internet environment. Social media has a negative impact of ruining body image, taking unwanted criticism, and over-analysis of every minuscule thing especially of a celebrity.

The 29-year-old entertainer has just been nominated for the upcoming 2021 Latin Grammy Awards, which will be held in November.
