On Nov. 1, Jessica Simpson celebrated four years of sobriety and reflected on her quest for “winning over my internal struggle of self-respect” Simpson went on to say that she couldn’t believe it had been four years since she had become sober.

Jessica Simpson has reached a significant milestone in her career. On Nov. 1, the 41-year-old actress and singer celebrated four years of sobriety on Instagram. Simpson uploaded a photo of herself from before her rehabilitation journey to reflect on her progress.

“This person is an unrecognisable version of myself in the early morning of November 1, 2017,” she captioned the photo. She had a lot of self-discovery and exploration to do. She understood that at this precise moment, she would allow herself to reclaim her light, triumph over my internal fight for self-respect, and bravely face the world. To achieve this, she had to give up alcohol since it kept her thoughts and heart racing in the same direction, and she was fatigued.

Simpson went on to say that she couldn’t believe it had been four years since she had become sober.

Simpson has previously spoken about her alcoholism, particularly in the documentary Open Book. In her biography, the fashion designer remembered a day in 2017 when she was unable to get her children, Maxwell, 9, and Ace, 8, whom she shares with husband Eric Johnson, ready for Halloween because she had been drinking.

She was frightened of exposing me in that state to them “According to Today, Simpson writes in the book about her 2-year-old daughter Birdie, whom she shares with the former football star. She is embarrassed to admit that she had no idea who put them in their costumes that night.”

Simpson sought help from a small circle of friends. She collaborated with a group of doctors and went to therapy. In 2020, she told Today, “She simply knew she had to yield.” “All she wants to do now is continue on her current course.” And at this stage in her life, she is strong enough to cope with whatever comes her way because she doesn’t have anything to numb her from having to deal with it.”
