Watch the Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Pandey starrer with ZEEPLEX to get a theatre-like experience at home.

Khaali Peeli is the latest Bollywood film to make a direct-t0-web release. If you are missing the theatre experience, you can rent this film with ZEEPLEX on a pay-per-view basis which is a unique way of watching the latest Bollywood blockbusters at home. Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Pandey star in this Bunty Aur Babli style story of two lovers who are on the run from the police and criminals. The film is full of Bombay ‘Tapori’ slang and will definitely make you nostalgic about the iconic Padmini ‘Kaali Peeli’ taxis that are no longer plying on the roads.

Watch the trailer for the film here.

Blackie (Ishaan Khatter) is a taxi driver who has a way of getting himself into and running away from trouble since childhood. He gives a ride to Pooja (Ananya Pandey) who is also on the run from a gang that she stole money from. They both squabble over the money before realising that they have a past connection from their childhood. Meanwhile, Yusuf (Jaideep Ahlawat), a pimp and gangster, is out to get Pooja back at any cost.

Ishaan Khatter plays the role of a petty criminal and small-time thug while Ananya Pandey plays the role of a girl who is a part of a prostitution racket but is kept reserved for a rich man who decides to sponsor her till she is an adult. They both play brash, rude and outspoken characters who fought their way through life. These characters and their worlds are somewhat alien to them and they pull it off quite well.

Jaideep Ahlawat, who has finally started getting his due as an actor, delivers an impressive performance. His calm and cold portrayal of Yusuf will remind you of the menacing threat to Blackie and Pooja’s life. Satish Kaushik delivers comic relief as a cop who says he is too smart for criminals but somehow always ends up getting fooled by their plans.

The film is filmy to its core and even references the films that it pays odes to. Satish Kaushik remembers the cops in Sholay, Ishaan talks about the film Gupt and even his character’s name is Vijay Chauhan. Yes, like in the old Amitabh Bachchan film. In a way, this film falls in the genre where one man is pit against the world but the difference is time and the fact that the heroine packs an equal punch too.

Directed by Maqbool Khan and produced by Ali Abbas Zafar (Director of Tiger Zinda Hai and Gunday), this film is an all-out entertainer. The music provides a tapori and street vibe to the film. The action scenes choreographed by Parvez Sheikh are shot well and some stunts in the film are an absolute treat to watch.

Rent this film on the weekend and make some popcorn because this one is a perfect family film you would want to enjoy in the theatres but can now enjoy at home with ZEEPLEX.
