In a recent interview with a leading publication, Lara Dutta claimed that she was surprised to learn that her 4-year-old daughter Saira was aware of the notion of divorce. Lara Dutta even revealed that Mahesh Bhupathi taught her the idea of divorce while watching a popular digital show.
Lara Dutta said in an interview that Mahesh’s favorite program is a digital platform series that includes 6 friends who stay together and he showed it to their four-year-old daughter. So, when her daughter was four, she was playing a game that’s when she came up to her and said, she’ll be leaving the house, and this is her house, and she is divorcing at that moment Lara Dutta nearly had a heart attack because she was like, what is she saying, how does she know what exactly is divorce. And then when she was asked she’s like when two people are in a horrible marriage and don’t get along and live apart, that implies they’re divorced. Lara Dutta was amazed to discover this and asked her daughter who informed her, to which Saira replied, her Dad did.
Lara Dutta stated last year in an interview that she and Mahesh wanted at least one of the parents to constantly be with Saira. When Saira was born, she made it a point to spend as much time as possible with her in her early years. Mahesh and Lara Dutta made it clear that one of them will always be with Saira full-time. As a result, her role choices were heavily weighted on that criteria. She had stated that it had to be worthy to leave Saira and go to work.
