Password, Satyanweshi Byomkesh: 5 films of Parambrata Chattopadhyay to relish on, this Republic Day weekend

The long weekend is here and what better way to spend it other than watching our favourite movies? Cosy up next to your loved ones or pets, get a tub of popcorn and other snacks and binge your time away on some amazing Parambrata Chattopadhyay films. An eminent Indian actor, who has largely worked in Bengali cinema, has given us numerous must-watches!

1. Tiki-Taka

Directed by the actor himself, Tiki-Taka hails from the sports-comedy genre. It stars Saswata Chatterjee, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Emona Enabula, and Ritabhari Chakraborty in key roles. The story follows the events that take place when a drug lord’s men fail to pickup Khelechi in time, and he instead falls into the company of Raju, a con man. In a humorous tale of twists and turns, Parambrata, Saswata, Emona, and Ritabhari unfold a beautiful tale of sports, friendship, and more.

2. Password

A popular 2019 film, Password stars Dev, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Rukmini Maitra, Paoli Dam, and Adrit Roy in pivotal roles. While Dev is the protagonist, Parambrata is seen as the antagonist of this cybercrime-action-thriller. The film follows the threats and dangers that a darknet criminal brings to the table and Rohit Dasgupta’s (Dev) mission to expose Ismailov (Parambrata Chattopadhyay).

3. Satyanweshi Byomkesh

Directed by Sayantan Ghoshal, this popular 2019 suspense-thriller was a huge hit amongst its audience. Satyanweshi Byomkesh is an adaptation of the immensely loved Byomkesh Bakshi novel Magna Mainak, written by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. While Parambrata stars as Byomkesh Bakshi, the detective, we see Suprobhat Das, Rudranil Ghosh, and Anjan Dutt in other important roles in the film.

4. Shonar Pahar

Another Parambrata Chattopadhyay directorial, Shonar Pahar is a beautiful story of a complex mother-son relationship. The film stars Jisshu Sengupta, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Arunima Ghosh, Srijato Bandopadhyay, and Tanuja in pivotal roles. Even Soumitra Chatterjee makes a brief appearance in the film. A heartwarming story for a chilly, cosy weekend sounds perfect!

5. Kadambari

A very popular film, Kadambari stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Parambrata Chattopadhyay,T and Kaushik Sen in lead roles alongside several others. While Parambrata stars as Rabindranath Tagore, we see Sanjoy Nag, Srikanto Acharya, and Titas Bhowmik playing other important characters. Kadambari was directed by Suman Ghosh and is a sweet tale of Rabindranath Tagore bonding with his elder brother’s wife. A must-watch in our honest opinion!
