Saif Ali Khan Reacts On Getting Back Pataudi Palace; Says, ‘Cleared Lease, Didn’t Re-Buy’

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan have always lived in the public eye. Everything they do, everywhere they go, they get photographed and questioned. However, in a recent interview for his upcoming film Bhoot Police, Saif Ali Khan was tackling questions regarding misconstrued quotes. The Omkara actor said small change in words can sometimes change the meaning of what was said completely.

For instance, the entire story around the Pataudi Palace has been completely misinterpreted by the media. “My father leased it out and Francis (Wacziarg) and Aman (Nath), who ran a hotel there took good care of the property. My mother (Sharmila Tagore) has a cottage there and she was always very comfortable,” Saif told Bollywood Bubble. “It was a fair financial arrangement and contrary to reports, I did not have to buy it back because I already owned it,” Saif said. After the death of his father in 2011, the actor wrapped up the lease. The mistaken reporting can lead to confusion between people, said the actor.

Saif Ali Khan who married Kareena Kapoor in 2012, a little after the demise of his father, often get misquoted. So how does he handle this confusion all the time? “I have stopped reading the comments that the trolls leave. It has helped me a lot.”

The actor admitted that initially all the comments that the trolls would leave, used to get him all worked up and upset. There were times when some of the comments were laced with threats of violence which makes it even worse.

“Having stopped reading the comments has helped me stay focused. It can get addictive, you know. I can google myself and start checking out what I said when and then I read something I don’t like and it spoils my mood. My wife told me, ‘you know what just stop doing it’. I had stopped for a while and I really started saying what do I do,” exclaimed the Nawab. Adding to the viciousness of social media, the actor stated, “There is something about social media which is so dangerous. There is so much anonymity you don’t know who is talking to whom. So, people throw a lot of violence around and stuff like that. It can get a little wrong.” Arjun Kapoor, who was also a part of the interview with Saif, agreed with him.
