Satyameva Jayate 2 was one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year since it featured John Abraham in three roles for the very first time and heralded his return with Milap Zaveri. Unfortunately, the big-budget film got off to a shaky start, earning poor box office receipts.
While it did well on individual screens, the film struggled to find a foothold in multiplexes, even throughout the weekend. Satyameva Jayate 2, starring John Abraham and directed by Divya Khosla Kumar, earned Rs 3.60 crore, Rs 2.10 crore, and Rs 2.20 crore on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, according to reports.
Satyameva Jayate 2 reportedly grossed over Rs 1.50 crore on Sunday, according to initial estimates. Critics were harsh on Satyameva Jayate 2, with some even criticising John’s over-the-top fight sequences and blind patriotism throughout the movie.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, the Dostana actor stated that he is unaffected by all of the mocking and memes circulating on social media, saying, “Just ticket sales can be used to gauge the success of such a film.” It really doesn’t matter who said what on Twitter about it after that. John was very aware that they were catering to a Hindi heartland audience.
As an actor, he likes to juggle this space with Batla House [2019], which is lauded for its meticulous study and layers. He wouldn’t want to limit himself to a metropolitan audience and forget about the rest of India. Some individuals have a dismissive attitude regarding these films, but that doesn’t matter. He has lasted this long in this business because he is doing something right, John further added.
For the previous few days, the cast of the film has been promoting it. They were recently spotted on the sets of Kapil Sharma’s show, when John flaunted his abs, causing fans to go nuts. They also appeared on KBC 13, a well-known show. Satyameva Jayate 2 needs to do well at the box office to keep solvent.
