Lata Mangeshkar has been taken off the ventilator but remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), according to the doctor who is treating her. The 92-year-old singer tested positive for coronavirus and was brought to the Breach Candy Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on January 8 with minor symptoms, where she is being treated by Dr. Pratit Samdani and his team of specialists.

Mangeshkar, according to Samdani, has shown signs of modest improvement. “She has been off the ventilator for two and a half days, but she is still being monitored. Her ventilator has been turned off due to a slight improvement in her health. Her medical condition necessitates her admission to the intensive care unit “the news portal quoted Samdani as saying.

Mangeshkar, who began her career at the age of 13 in 1942 and has sung over 30,000 songs in various Indian languages, is regarded as one of Indian cinema’s best playback singers. She has been the voice behind several notable songs throughout her seven-decade career, including “Ajeeb dastan hai ye,” “Pyar Kiya to Darna Kya,” “Neela asman so Gaya,” and “Tere Liye,” among others.
