International Women’s Day 2020 is just around the corner. Here are the top five moments from your favorite Kannada shows that have given us moments of pride with the way they have portrayed women and their ability to handle situations in the serial. Amulya from Gattimela, better known as Rowdy Baby in the show, is undoubtedly confident and daring, as opposed to most known characters. A prideful moment in the serial was when Suhasini tried to get her married to someone else so that she didn’t come in the way of Vedanth. Amulya stood up for herself when she thanked Suhasini for taking the effort but told her to leave the responsibility of getting her married to her parents.

Parvathi in Paaru is a gentle but also a strong individual. She stands strong on her moral grounds and does not in compromise on anything that she believes in. She is highly determined and supportive. This was the most evident when Preethu said that he wished to marry Janani instead of the girl Akhilandeshwari had decided for him. Paaru and Adi then decided to go to Janani’s house as villagers in order to convince Parmeshwara.

Anu is a strong-willed woman. Not only is she caring and considerate towards her family but is surely an example of how women of today must be. Smart and confident, she always voices her opinions especially in an office culture where her opinions are always disregarded by people like Harsha and Meera. In one episode, when Anu told Harsha that the calendar idea does not work for a company like theirs, Harsha, as well as Meera, told her that she is not equipped enough to give her opinions. However, Anu found a way to put her point across.

Amulya Gowda essays the role of a kabaddi player and is strong, smart and an amazing sportswoman. She overcomes every obstacle that is thrown at her. In one incident in the show, when Anika locked Kamali up in a room so that she could not take part in the kabbadi match, Kamali found a way to break open the door and joined the match on time. Even with all these hurdles, she won the match and was praised for the same.

Belli from Yaare Nee Mohini might seem very timid. However, she reacts in the most reasonable manner when required. When Maya questioned the character of her parents, Belli who never speaks, went on to slap Maya. She told Maya that the next time she speaks ill of her parents, she will not be alive. This way Belli showed a lot of courage and stood up for what she believes is right.
