Aghor Shastri informs all Brahmins and the Marh family that the entire family will be renounced by the society. All those supporting the family will also meet the same fate. Pritram’s father says that they will hand over the widow to the Brahmins. Pritram disagrees saying that it is only Chandra who can decide on matters related to the guest that he has sheltered. Thakumaa stops Didimaa from giving away the widow to Brahmins and agrees to provide shelter for the widow.
