Rani prays to Lord Raghubir to save the Marh family from any harm and disgrace. Pritram’s father and a priest blame Chandra for bringing such an unfortunate mishap upon their house. Filled with terror, the women of the Marh family worry about their husbands’ life and the household. Rani is accused by Jogmaya of manipulating Chandra’s judgements and forcing him to disobey a social ritual. A group of Brahmins led by their head Aghor Shastri Mahashoy enters inside Marh house and shout angrily.
