A ‘puja’ takes place at the Marh house. Meanwhile, Aghor Shastri and the Brahmins make preparations to burn the widow alive. Aghor Shastri tells the widow that she would be united with her dead husband. Thereafter, as Chandra makes his way to the Marh house, he finds that the widow is on fire. Chandra tries to save the widow but gets injured in the process. A fire also erupts during the 'puja', which is put out miraculously. Chandra is carried to the Marh house by the guards.
