Sukumari criticises Anandamoyee for disrupting the Marh family. Rani, Chandra, and Anandamoyee leave for Mokimpur. On the way to Mokimpur, Anandamoyee experiences severe stomach ache. Gangaram Chowdhury, a landlord, makes arrangements so that Chandra, Rani, and Anandamoyee can rest. Gangaram compares Rani with his mother. Later, Chandra, Rani, and Anandamoyee arrive at their home in Mokimpur. Sardar later informs Chandra that Martin, the Indigo tax collector, is outside the house.
