Chandra, Ramchandra, Madhab, Mathur, Pyarimohan and the household servants celebrate by lighting firecrackers. As Karuna has a high fever, Mathur takes her inside the room to rest. Rani feels very scared thinking of all the bad omens. Doctor Hogard examines Karuna and informs the family that there is no hope for her survival. Karuna handovers Jagadamba her son's responsibility. Kaviraj Mosai also confirms that Karuna is breathing her last. Karuna dies at last, and the Marh family laments.
