Mathur assures Rani before Lord Raghubir that he has not committed any error but refuses to disclose the entire truth. Ramchandra gives the stolen money to his uncle claiming it to be his own. Chandra doubts Mathur as the latter readily takes the blame on himself. Despite Rani's persuasion and his disrespect, Mathur restrains from telling the truth and is willing to accept any punishment. Karuna announces that she and Mathur will immediately leave the house as such allegations are unacceptable.
