Rani and Chandra are shocked by Karuna's sudden death. Chandra's health degrades by the shock of Karuna's death. Mathur is also reluctant to believe that Karuna is no longer alive. Sukumari regrets Karuna's death as she never wished for her to die. Rani tells Anandamoyee to prepare for Karuna's last rites saying that she will send off her daughter as a bride. Mathur recalls all his fond memories spent with Karuna, and her last words to him. Karuna is dressed up beautifully for the last time.
