Protests against the abolition of the Islamic divorce law of 'Triple Talaq' seize the Indian city of Aligarh. Zara and her friend, Reema, get caught in the protests and miss their train. They hitch a ride on a truck, but it gets surrounded by a mob of angry protesters. Further, Zara and Reema escape the angry mob with Kabir's help. Kabir and Zara meet for the first time and catch their train to Lucknow. Later, Kabir and Zara argue about their extremely different opinions on 'Triple Talaq'.
