Gangadhar thanks Laxmibai again. She tells Gangadhar how a woman had come in the guise of a maid and an ascetic, and saved her many times. Meanwhile, Malcolm also sets the temple in which Gangadhar and Laxmibai are hiding, on fire. This time too, the same woman who has her face covered appears and guides them to safety. Seeing Gangadhar and Laxmibai coming out of the temple, Malcolm and his officer aim their guns at them. Just then, a gravely injured Tatya Dixit foils their attempt but gets shot. The officers escape. Tatya Dixit apologises to the king and breathes his last. When Laxmibai asks him who the main conspirator is, he utters the word 'R' before breathing his last. Laxmibai requests Gangadhar to have Tatya Dixit's last rites done with full honours. Gangadhar asks Sakhubai, Jankibai and Lacho to leave his court so that only his ministers, his queen and he can hold the proceedings. Later, Laxmibai describes to the artist the woman who had saved her several times. The artist sketches her portrait. Moropant arrives just then to welcome Gangadhar and Laxmibai. He is stunned seeing the portrait.
