Didimaa asks Rani why she went out at night. Chandra informs her that Rani buried her dead child. Meanwhile, Khudiram gives away his daughter in marriage and brings home a bride for Ramkumar. Rani laments that Didimaa wasn’t able to forgive her. Chandra tells Rani that Didimaa is bound by the societal beliefs, and seeks Rani’s cooperation in realising Ram Mohan Roy’s vision of a liberated Bengal. Years later, Rani gives birth to a fourth girl child and takes control of the Marh family.
