The 2019 laughter roller-coaster Punjabi movie Band Vaaje is perfect to kill all the laziness and stress of a busy, tiring week. Everyone in this film guarantees you a ball of your time and by the end of the film, it will become one of your favourite comedies. Our hero Inder (Binnu Dhillon) is a smart, young bachelor. He runs a successful restaurant with his family and he is dying to get settled down. But his beeji (Nirmal Rishi) has her own checklist and her top priority is that the girl should have no connection with Pakistan or origins from there. Apart from beeji, Inder’s elder brother Jeet (Smeep Kang) also has a condition she has to fulfil. Inder is frustrated with his family for being so rigid.

Kashmeer Singh (Gurpreet Ghuggi) is a marriage counsellor and Inder’s best friend. He has taken the responsibility of finding an eligible girl for Inder and assures him that he will soon get married.

Kashmeer manages a meeting with a girl’s family. It seems that Inder will finally get hitched, but then, the girl’s mother tells them about her relationship with a Pakistani family. Yeah…yeah, you guessed right. Beeji and Jeet reject the girl instantly and Jeet warns Kashmeer not to bring such proposals.

Here, Inder is having an argument with his family, saying that he thinks that he will die as a bachelor. But this doesn’t change beeji and Jeet’s opinions. Kashmeer leaves saying that he is attending his friend’s wedding, so Inder decides to go with him, hoping that he will find a girl there.

Inder and Kashmeer reach the venue where Inder sees a beautiful and elegant Bilkis (Mandy Takhar) dancing. Inder falls in love with Bilkis instantly and Kashmeer notices this.

With the help of Kashmeer, Inder goes to Bilkis’ college and gathers the courage to face her. As soon as Bilkis meets Inder, she understands that he’s another dil-phek lover and rejects his marriage proposal on his face. Inder suggests that they should meet more often to get to know each other. Bilkis tells him that her college is over and she will now study at home for her exams. Thus, Inder decides to go to Bilkis’ house and Kashmeer helps him in finding out where she lives.

Bilkis’ family is in Canada, so she stays with her guardians Balwant Bajwa (Jaswinder Bhalla) and Billo Bajwa (Mannat Singh). Bilkis’ deceased father was Balwant’s best friend, and he considers Bilkis his daughter. In this picture, a family is visiting the Bajwas with a marriage proposal for Bilkis, but Balwant rejects it as the groom’s family is too weird for them.

Balwant wants a house help and that’s where Inder gets his chance. He plays a trick to turn away other contenders for the same position and becomes the Bajwas new cook. Billo seems to be happy with Balwant’s choice, which makes Balwant suspicious.

Balwant is suspicious of his wife Billo. He thinks that there is something between Billo and Inder. Similarly, Billo feels that her husband is keeping a close watch on the vilaytan maid. They follow each other to find proof of cheating, and end up fighting like cats and dogs.

Inder finds the correct time to surprise Bilkis. As Inder enters Bilkis’ room, she is shocked to see him as a cook. However, Bilkis is impressed with Inder’s ingeniousness and that’s how their love blossoms.

Balwant catches Inder and Billo in an awkward situation. He gets so irritated that he fires Inder. Now Inder plans along with Kashmeer to get revenge on Balwant. They visit Balwant and make him so angry that Balwant hits Inder with a vase. Inder pretends to suffer from amnesia and tricks Balwant into letting him into the Bajwa mansion again.

Balwant plans to throw Inder out of their house with his mentally-challenged son Jimmy (Rakesh Dhawan). At first, they electrocute Inder and Kashmeer. Then they set a dog on Inder. Staying at the Bajwas’ becomes a nightmare for Inder, but he bears it all happily for Bilkis.

After baring it all, Inder finds solace in Bilkis’ heart. They dream of settling down and Inder can’t wait to talk to Balwant about their marriage.

When Inder approaches Balwant asking for Bilkis’ hand in marriage, Balwant tells Inder that he has to convince Bilkis’ mother. This surprises Inder, for he thought that Bilkis was the Bajwas’ daughter. But then Balwant tells him that he is just Bilkis’ guardian and her family hails from Pakistan. Inder goes dumb as he knows that his beeji will disapprove of their relationship.

Inder decides that he will not tell the truth about Bilkis’ family to his own. He and Kashmeer come up with a plan where Balwant has to pretend to be Bilkis’ father, Bilkis’ real mother will pretend to be a Punjaban, and Balwant’s wife, Billo, will pretend to be Balwant’s sister-in-law. Inder manages to convince both the Bajwas and the Ahmeds (Bilkis family) to go along with the plan.

Everyone follows Inder’s plan and when his family visit Bilkis’, they act as per the plan. This convinces Inder’s family, and finally, Inder and Bilkis get engaged.

Soon after the engagement, Jeet and beeji find themselves trapped in a dysfunctional family. At midnight, Balwant tries to meet his wife Billo, but beeji and Jeet catch him and accuse him of being a philanderer (since, as per Inder’s plan, Billo is Balwant’s sister-in-law). They even inform Bilkis’ mother about this, but she also behaves strangely. This leaves beeji and Jeet surprised and they feel dicey about the upcoming marriage.

Inder manages to calm his family down, and on the day of the wedding, Jimmy appears and he exposes Inder’s plans to his family. This clears everything and Bilkis also admits that her family has origins in Pakistan. However, due to her and Inder’s strong conviction, they convince beeji. That’s how Inder and Bilkis finally get married.
