RekkaÂ
Vijay Sethupathi starrer Rekka is a romantic action comedy film, written and directed by Rathina Shiva. The film, which stars Lakshmi Menon and Sija Rose in the lead roles, is Sethupathi’s first attempt to turn into a masala hero. Rekka showcases Sethupathi as an action hero and revolves around the life of an advocate and his love interest. Sethupathi’s character, who helps lovers to elope and get married, is compelled to kidnap a politician’s daughter for a gangster, David. You can watch the film on ZEE5 to find out happens next.
Vikram Vedha revolves around a ruthless cop Vikram (an encounter specialist), who wages war against an unscrupulous gangster Vedha, only to find the truth in the end. After his close aides are killed in an encounter (by Vikram), an enraged Vedha plays mind games and unsettle Vikram’s life. The film is a modern interpretation of the old tale of Vikram-Betaal. The film stars actor Madhavan in the role of Vikram and Vijay Sethupathi as Vedha. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Shraddha Srinath also appear in significant roles. Watch it here.
Junga
Helmed by Gokul, Junga revolves around Vijay Sethupathi’s character Junga Mariappan, a miserly bus-conductor turned local don who tries to buy back the movie theatre that his father had sold due to financial troubles. However, the chettiyar who owns it now refuses to sell and also insults him in the bargain. To avenge the insult, he travels to Paris to be-friend and marry the Chettiyar’s daughter, played by Sayeesha. How this miserly kanja pisnaari Don travels to Paris to romance a girl and also tries to escape the clutches of the local mafia there forms the rest of the story. The movie has plenty of comedy and Vijay Sethupathi is brilliant as usual. Junga also saw Sethupathi doubling up as a producer for this film. It is co-produced by Ishari K Ganesh, Arun Pandian, RM Rajesh Kumar, while the music has been scored by Siddharth Vipin. Watch the film here.
Sindhubaadh
The movie Sindhubaadh sees Vijay Sethupathi and his son, Surya Sethupathi sharing screen space. This is the tale of a thief named Thiru (Sethupathi), whose life revolves around petty robberies carried out with his accomplice Super (Surya). However, his sentiments undergo a change when he meets Vembu (Anjali) and marries her. His happiness is short-lived when Vembu is sold by her uncle and turns up in the clutches of skin-traders in Malaysia. It now remains to Thiru to rescue her. The film is an out and out action film and Surya Sethupathi is endearing as little Super. Watch the film here.
Kavan
Kavan, starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role, revolves around Tilak, a TV journalist and his team, who boldly bring to light the corrupt operations of a television channel. The film also features comedian T Rajendar, Vikranth, Madonna Sebastian, Pandiarajan and Akashdeep Saigal in significant roles. Helmed by KV Anand, Kavan is a bold and engrossing take on the media’s good and bad sides. Watch the movie here.
On the professional front, Vijay Sethupathi is currently shooting for his much-awaited upcoming film, Master, that stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay in the lead role. The actor will be seen as an antagonist in the film. Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film is slated to release in April 2020. Stay tuned!
