The plague of censorship thankfully hasn’t entered the online space. Creators are finally getting a chance to present their creativity without interference.

ZEE5 has seen several original series becoming a hit with the masses be it Sunny Leone’s Karenjit Kaur, Saqib Saleem’s Rangbaaz or Arjun Rampal’s The Final Call. ZEE5’s original Marathi series Date With Saie starring Saie Tamhankar has caught on, owing to its thrilling story line and performances. Another one is set to get added to the list- Sex, Drugs and Theatre.
The original Marathi series directed by Sujay Dahake, has released today on ZEE5 and its teaser looks promising. Here are 5 reasons why we are excited for the series…
1. Bold content
This is probably the first time we get to see such bold material in any Marathi content so far. Topics such as sex and drugs are still considered a taboo in Marathi cinema and haven’t been explored a great deal yet. This series aims to change that with its daring plot and scenes. We see a lot of explicit scenes in the teaser and trailer, which goes to show that Marathi creators are finally set to push the envelope.
2. The performances
Sex Drugs And Theater is a series based on the lives of six college students that come together to compete in a play. They are brought together by a student who starts an initiative to include curricular activities in the university to reduce stress. It features actors Shalva Kinjawadikar, Mitali Mayekar, Nayannah Mukey, Aadish Vaidya, Suyassh Zunzurke, Abhishek Deshmukh, Pravin Tarde,Sunil Barveetc., and the teaser shows us a hint of their performances that appear to be nothing short of spectacular.
3. The drama
Given that the series will explore the medium of theater, we can expect a lot of high-octane drama and beautiful visuals in the series, as suggested by its teaser.
4. The relatability factor
The series will explore issues that the youth of today faces on a regular basis. Some of the most common ones, as suggested by the show’s title,is dealing with sexuality, drug addiction etc. Hence, millennials going through the same can relate to the content.
5. Gripping narrative
The six college students in the series will be brought together by certain unusual circumstances. It will be interesting to see what these factors are and how the students will grapple with the challenges.
