1. The premise

The golden era of the 70s and 80s is popular because of the contribution made by its films and music. In this period, films were based on a solid plot. Songs were in-sync with the situation, and poetic lyrics added more charm to the story. After revising Long Da Lishkara, Lambardarni and Duja Viah, we got you another gem from the past to make your weekend more special. The film we are talking about is the 1985 film Guddo. Here are five reasons to watch this film.

Watch the classic Punjabi movie Guddo online here:

The basic premise is based on a love story between Mangal (Mohd. Sadique) and Guddo (Shobni Singh). The lovers were about to get married but an evil zamindar (Yash Sharma) rapes and kills Guddo. Mangal gets convicted in Guddo’s murder, and he is sentenced to life imprisonment. But destiny has some other plans as Mangal’s look-alike Jawala, a horse car rider, enters Mangal’s life. That’s it, now you have the film to find out the rest.

2. Mohd Sadique's voice

While watching the film, one thing you’ll really get fond of, is the voice of Mohd. Sadique. The music and his playback singing actually help you get into the film. In the credits, he is addressed as a ‘singing star,’ and he is truly one of the finest musical talents in Pollywood. His songs are a part of Punjabi culture and he has sung numerous famous Punjabi songs. In Guddo, apart from his dual roles, his songs add more value to this Punjabi film.

3. The action

Another plus point of Guddo is the action, which only gets better as the film progresses. Mangal is framed for his beloved’s murder and he is all set to take revenge. You get to see a different, more violent side of Mangal. There are rooftop chases, hand-to-hand combats, and gory scenes that keep you glued to the screen. Despite limited resources, the filmmakers have delivered an amazing final product.

4. A brilliant take on mistaken identity

We have films on mistaken identities in Bollywood and Hollywood, but not in Pollywood. Guddo plays well on this theme and shows us an interesting take on the age-old concept. The lives of Mangal and Jawala are interchanged and it creates new hurdles, challenges, and opportunities for both of them.

5. Mehar Mittal

Well, Mehar Mittal is a phenomenon in himself. In Guddo, Mehar will tickle your funny bone throughout as he stays on screen till the last frame. Hats off to his comic timing and seamless humour. Watching him is always a treat.

So these are the reasons to watch Guddo this weekend. Do watch and let us know your views in the comment section below.
