1. Padaharella Vayasu

Most people believe Tollywood is living through its best phase right now. Although we had repetitions and slight duds earlier, we mustn’t forget that Telugu cinema has brought its best earlier too. This weekend, we’ve got a solution to your scouting-for-films-all-day problem. Check out these six classic films that will keep you and your whole family entertained.

At first, we have Padaharella Vayausu which translates to ‘At the age of 16’. This romantic film is about first love and first heart-break. Sridevi plays the role of Malli, who falls for a doctor. She decides to give up on her ambition of becoming a teacher to be with the doctor. But first love often turns into a first heart-break. Fate had similar plans for Malli. But her true love was waiting around.

2. Pilla Zamindar

Pilla Zamindar features Jayasudha, Akkineni Nageshwar Rao, Mohan Babu and Prabhakar Reddy amongst others. The plot is intriguing and may seem confusing. Everyone is pretending to be someone they are not, but hang in there. They reveal secrets just in time. The film released in 1980 and is an out-and-out comedy.

3. Buchibabu

Starring the legendary actor, ANR, Buchibabu is another comedy venture which released in 1980. It also features Jaya Prada as his leading lady. The story begins when the accomplished Buchibabu returns to India. He plans to marry his childhood sweetheart, Bujji. In order to impress her parents, before proposing marriage, Buchibabu turns into a househelp at Bujji’s residence. Is this a good idea?

4. Gundammagari Krishnulu

Gundammagari Krishnulu is led by Nirmalamma, Rajendra Prasad and Subhalekha Sudhakar. As the title suggests, the film revolves around a grandmother who has decided to marry off her two grandsons. The elder one rebels for love marriage and rejects her idea of an arranged marriage. The younger one, however, is excited to tie the knot and falls for the first girl that meets during pelli choopulu. But many troubles land upon them and their path to marriage become a maze, resulting in a laugh-riot.

5. Yuvaraju

Yuvaraju also stars Akkineni Nageshwar Rao along with Sujatha and Jayasudha. If you think love stories are complicated in our generation, you need to watch this 1982 film. The plot revolves around one man who decides to marry a girl but ends up falling in love with the other one, who has amnesia. His would-be finds out about the love affair and his lover leaves him, after recalling her past. What happens next?

6. Aatma Bandhuvu

Originally a Tamil film, Aatma Bandhuvu released in 1985. It gained popularity among the Telugu-speaking audiences because of the cast — which features Shivaji Ganeshan and Radha in the lead roles. The film dives into the life of Peddayya, who is on his death-bed and reminisces his unrequited love story with Gouri. The story is a beautiful take on true love and the cruelties of life.
