Digpal Lanjekar’s period drama Fatteshikast is all set to get its digital release on ZEE5 on August 7. The film made record-breaking numbers records at the box office and amassed a massive collection after releasing in theatres last year. Fatteshikast is set during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the king of the Maratha army who waged war with external forces like Mughals to establish Swarajya in his kingdom. As we gear up for the film’s release on ZEE5, let’s look at the six reasons why you need to watch this historical drama.
Here’s a song Rani Phadakti Lakho Zende from the period drama.
1. Grandness Of The Film
The film is based on a significant event that took place in the history of Marathas. The director has made it a point to portray it on screen with just the perfect amount of grandeur required. What impressed us the most are the majestic sets and the splendid exhibition of wars that have been brilliantly executed in the film. Do watch out for it!
2. First-Ever Surgical Strike In The History Of The Marathas
Based on a chapter from Maratha history, the film depicts the encounter between Shivaji Maharaj and the Subhedar general of the Mughal army who had taken refuge in Lal Mahal, Pune. The Marathas under the leadership of Shivaji Maharaj had launched a stealth attack on the Lal Mahal which is considered to be the first-ever surgical strike in the history of the Marathas. Although the tactical operation on Shaista Khan forms the crux of the film, the film delves more into how the attack was put into action using guerilla warfare by the Marathas. Another reason why the film is a must-watch is its relevance to contemporary times.
3. Digpal Lanjekar’s Directorial Genius
After delivering the hit Farzand, Digpal Lanjekar is back with another period drama. The film has been crafted flawlessly by the accomplished director who also plays a cameo role. See if you can spot him during the course of the film!
4. Brilliant Casting
Apart from Chinmay, there are numerous other actors that have been perfectly cast including names like Mrinal Kulkarni as Rajmata Jijabai, Anup Soni as Shaista Khan, Rishi Saxena as Fatteh Khan, Ankit Mohan as Yesaji Kank, and Mrunmayee Deshpande as Kesar. The performances of all these actors are noteworthy, many of whom have done justice to the important figures of history.
5. Perfect Blend Of History And Action
The film is action-packed but the director has given equal importance on keeping the history intact through the costumes and art direction. Special mention for the brilliant set design which got us transported to the era. The sets, action sequences, costumes in the film look way too realistic. Not many films have managed to blur the lines between cinema and reality but Fatteshikast does just that!
6. Mesmerising Soundtrack
Another highlight of this film is the soulful music composed by Devdutta Manisha Baji which includes a devotional verse by Sant Tukaram. Songs like Jogwa Wadh Ga Mai and Rani Phadakti Lakho Zende went off the blockbuster charts owing to the popularity. Do you have any favourite song from the film?
