A wide age gap in a relationship
The show Mere Humdum Mere Dost revolves around a couple with a big age gap. Aimen is actually Haider’s friends’ daughter and is put under his care when the two fall in love, which makes Haider almost as old as Aimen’s father. But the two fall in love regardless of age. Haider even had a failed marriage which leads to his estranged wife becoming bitter too!
Even in the show Teri Berukhi, Shahtaj is married off to Numair, her much older cousin who had previously been married once. They are poles apart and Numair is still in love with his ex-wife Aleena when Shahtaj enters his world. But slowly, Numair finds himself feeling happy and at peace with Shahtaj around! Their age gap does not get in the way of their feelings!
Domestic Violence and Rape
This is especially talked about in the show Pani Jaisa Piyar where Sana is repeatedly mistreated. First by her brother’s best friend Saad who harbours feelings for her and rapes her and then by Adarsh, her fiance who beats her and berates her when he finds out that she has been raped and has a child. Sana has to go through a lot of things before she decides to part ways with Adarsh and live as a single mother!

She is left broken by the betrayal and cannot begin to fathom why Salman would cheat on her. She takes a lot of time to reflect on her life and understands how some things are beyond anyone’s control.
Forced marriages
A women’s true happiness and desires are often neglected and families make life-changing decisions for them. This is a very old phenomenon and we see this happen in a couple of Zindagi shows as well! Tum Kon Piya‘s Elma is actually in love with Ramish but is married off to Zarbab, a man who has a girlfriend and has no intentions of loving her.

Gohar is married into a family who had a feud with her father many years ago and now wants to seek revenge for that. Gohar has to ward them off and manage to live a happy life and also be happy in her marriage but the feud gets in her way often!
In Aaj Rang Hai too, two estranged brothers have a long-standing feud between their families and to end this, they marry their daughters and a sort of exchange happens.
