The trailer for the much-anticipated film 83 was recently released online, and fans couldn’t contain their enthusiasm to see it on the big screen. A Dubai-based investor has filed a complaint with the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Mumbai, alleging that some producers, including Deepika Padukone, conspired and defrauded him during the production of the upcoming Bollywood movie 83.
Deepika is also believed to be one of the developers of the movie based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Free Zone Establishment has requested the issuing of proceedings against all of the defendants for allegedly violating the Indian Penal Code’s Sections 405, 406 (criminal breach of trust), 415, 418, 420 (cheating), and 120B (criminal conspiracy).
Future Resources FZE has also named Deepika Padukone, directors Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan, Phantom pictures, and four others as defendants. As per the accuser, executives from Future Resources FZE met with officials from Vibri Media, an Indian company, since the UAE-based corporation chose to invest. Vibri assured them of a good return on investment, so the UAE-based company put in around Rs 16 crores.
FZE signed two agreements with Vibri, a securities subscription agreement, and a shareholders agreement, based on the claims and assurances and established as a stakeholder. Vibri deliberately broke the terms of service of the contracts subject to such implementation, argues the foreign firm, with the intent to defraud FZE, siphon cash, and cause FZE wrongful loss.
Vibri was reportedly obligated under such contracts to use the funds pertaining to FZE solely for commercial objectives and not to utilize it for individual gain by its executives. According to the appellant, Vibri engaged in various agreements with Reliance Big Films, Phantom Films, Kabir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala, and Deepika Padukone for the production of the Hindi film 83 without first receiving positive writing authorization of FZE.
Talking about the film, Ranveer Singh will play the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, while Deepika Padukone will play his reel-life wife Romi Bhatia. The film is slated to hit the big screens on December 24th.
