Ranveer Singh starrer sports drama 83 has created a buzz on the internet. From the release of the teaser to the promotions, every event related to the film has been making headlines. The films’ trailer garnered a very positive reception and all the actors were lauded for their respective roles. Ranveer Singh will play captain Kapil Dev in the film and the plot revolves around the journey of 1983 when India bagged their first world cup. The film is helmed by Kabir Khan and is co-produced by Deepika Padukone with others.
As we know, how talented Ranveer Singh is, the actor makes it a point to dive deep into his characters and he has been doing it since day 1. Even for this role, the actor had to go through a lot of hard work and get into the skin of Kapil Dev.
To prepare for the role of Kapil, Ranveer had to train for 6 months at a time for 4 hours. Kapil Dev’s bowling action is pretty unusual, and getting the hang of it in such a short period of time was quite challenging, according to the actor. Ranveer’s body structure was significantly different from that of a cricketer, and merely learning the bowling action took him months.
Previously, his body was incredibly heavy because he had just finished filming Simmba. When he entered the run-way, his coach said that it appeared as if a wrestler was about to bowl. He had to go through training in order to gain that flexibility. However, once he overcame his athleticism, a lot of things were easier for him.
For six months, he played cricket for four hours every day and contributed two hours to physical fitness. Preparing for the training and rest in the shooting took four months. Balwinder Singh Sandhu, a former member of the Indian cricket team, assisted the actor at this time.
