Whether or not you are a fan of legendary actor and singer Kishore Kumar (is there any such person who isn’t though?), you will surely fall in love with the music of the Prosenjit-starrer movie Kishore Kumar Junior. The Kaushik Ganguly directed superhit Bangla film is a treat for music aficionados. The reason? The Bangla movie, where Prosenjit plays the role of stage singer Kishore Kumar Junior, doesn’t just feature some of Kishore Kumar’s most iconic songs, as a double treat, both the Bengali and Hindi versions of these songs have been played. The numbers in this film have been recreated by music director Indraadip Das Gupta and sung by Kumar Sanu, Babul Supriyo and Koushik Chakraborty. Read on to find out which ones.

Ki Ashay Bandhi Khelaghar, a soulful romantic number, was written by Gauriprasanna Mazumder and the music was composed by the legendary Shyamal Mitra. The song was originally a part of Uttam Kumar’s movie Amanush. In Kishore Kumar Junior, Kumar Sanu sings it.

This upbeat number was penned by Hasrat Jaipuri and the music was composed by Shankar-Jaikishan. In this movie, it has been sung by Kumar Sanu. Originally, it was a part of Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini starrer Andaz. The song got Kishore Kumar the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer.

The original Bangla version of the superhit Hindi song Tum Bin Jaau Kahan, the lyrics of Ek Din Pakhi Ure Jabe were written by Mukul Dutt and the music was composed by R.D. Burman. Kumar Sanu sings it in Kishore Kumar Junior. An intense number originally composed for RD’s Durga Puja album, it will stay with you.

Another song originally featuring superstar Rajesh Khanna, Woh Shaam Kuch Ajeeb Thi is a soulful romantic number, the lyrics for which were written by Gulzar and the music by Hemanta Mukherjee. Kumar Sanu once again sings this number in Kishore Kumar Junior.

With music direction by Shyamal Mitra, this song was originally written by Gauriprasanna Mazumdar. A romantic number originally sung for the movie Anando Ashram starring Uttam Kumar and Sharmila Tagore, Kumar Sanu sings it in the Prosenjit starrer.

One of Kishore Kumar’s funky songs, the lyrics were penned by Gauriprasanna Mazumdar and the music was composed by Hemanta Mukherjee. Kishore sung this number for the Bengali movie Lukochuri. In Kishore Kumar Junior, Kumar Sanu sings it.

A melancholic, heart-touching number, this song was written by Gauriprasanna Mazumdar and the music was composed by Kishore Kumar himself. Koushik Chakraborty and Babul Supriyo sing it in the Prosenjit starrer.

Another of Kishore Kumar’s beautiful romantic songs, Kuch Toh Log Kahenge was originally written by Anand Bakshi and the music direction was by RD Burman for the movie Amar Prem starring Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore. In this movie, Kumar Sanu sings it.

An upbeat song, the lyrics of which were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and music composed by RD Burman, Chala Jaata Hoon featured Rajesh Khanna in the movie Mere Jeevan Saathi. Babul Supriyo sings it in Kishore Kumar Junior.
