The Zee Bangla TV serial Subarnalata first started airing on television in the year 2010, and created quite a stir among viewers across the nation for several reasons! Starring actor Ananya Chatterjee in the lead role of the titular protagonist, Subarnalata was brought back by popular demand on ZEE5 and re-telecast in May of this year during the nationwide lockdown. The plot of this classic Bengali TV show revolves around a girl called Subarnalata (nicknamed Subarno) who is brought up by her forward-thinking mother, Satyabati. Satyabati is determined to provide her daughter with a sound education, and enrols her into Bethune School. However, Subarno is tricked into marriage at nine years old, something that even her mother wasn’t privy to, and the TV serial explores her life, adventures and struggles.
