Following the footsteps of a revolutionary leader, the &TV show Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B. R. Ambedkar is a docudrama starring Aayudh Bhanushali, Jagannath Nivangune, and Neha Joshi in lead roles. Revolving around Bhimrao as a young boy, the series also stars a number of child actors that essay significant roles. As Bhim’s siblings and friends, the children impart morals and a example of sincerity to the viewers. As seen on the show, they are namely, Bhim, Anand, Bala, Tulsa, Manjula, and Sethji’s son. Aayudh Bhanushali is the young protagonist, Bhimrao Ramji Sakpal. Due to the prevailing untouchability and caste system, Bhimrao and his family are ill-treated by upper caste people. Bhimrao studies diligently in school to change their orthodox mentality and make a difference to society.

Bhim’s brother Balaram is essayed by child actor Saud Mansuri. He is the eldest son of Ramji Sakpal and Bhima Bai Sakpal, and the second eldest child after their eldest daughter, Ganga Bai. He and Bhim share a great sense of brotherhood and always stand by each other. For instance, despite having an injured leg, Bala helps Bhim to free their father from jail.

Bhim’s second elder brother after Balarao is Anandrao Ramji Sakpal, essayed by Athar Khan. Along with all his siblings, he is another sincere son of Ramji and Bhima Bai. He is a diligent student and never compromises on studies even after all the hardships that they are facing. He accompanies Bhim when the latter has to stay at Sethji’s house for two nights.

Bhim’s elder sister and Ramji’s second daughter after Ganga Bai is Manjula, portrayed by Vanshika Yadav. She fights for her education and always supports Bhim in their battle against casteism and injustice. Like an ideal daughter for the times, she helps Bhima Bai, her mother, to cook for the house when the latter falls extremely ill.

After Manjula, Bhim’s third eldest sister is Tulsa Ramji Sakpal. In order to keep her father’s head held high, she and her sister participate in a competition against two boys. She also helps her mother when she is stricken with a disease.

Sethji is the antagonist of the show. He keeps picking a fight with Ramji Sakpal, but ends up in a pickle himself. His son is used to following in his footsteps and doiing wrong, but Bhim lovingly makes him realise his mistakes. When Sethji is put in jail, his son says, “If you come back, become a good man!” He is now Bhim’s friend and doesn’t tolerate discrimination against him.
