The &Tv show Ek Mahanayak B R Ambedkar is the biopic of the great leader Bhimrao Ambedkar. The show spirals around the life of the leader who is known as the father of the constitution. The late leader helped in uplifting the lower castes in India. He also helped in partly admonishing the caste culture. Bhimrao Ambedkar belonged to a lower caste. Even today the caste system is prevalent in India but back then when Dr Ambedkar was only a child the prominence of the caste system was much higher.

The show started streaming on &Tv in December 2019. The show began with Dr Ambedkar himself narrating the story of his life to a little girl. Bhim, as he was fondly known as, was born on a stormy night. He was a very intelligent child. Bhim and his sisters Manjula and Tulja and a brother Bala join the local school at Satara. Bhim’s father Ramji asks them to not reveal their surname and if asked, he tells them to say it is ‘Ambavedkar’. Bhim is curious about this. He asks his father about it. But Ramji refuses to reveal. Ramji and his family had moved to Satara to avoid discrimination. But they suffer caste discrimination in the village.
Bhim fails to make new friends at school. His mother Bhima Bai suffers from a rare heart disease that needs to be cured. Ramji tries to do as much as he can for his wife but Bhima Bai refuses treatment for the sake of her family. Bhim and his brother Bala find Ganga, a girl shunned by the village. She is invited to stay with them. Ganga is called names and asked to leave the society but Bhim calls her his sister and requests her to stay with them.
Bhim makes friends with the goldsmith’s son. Bhim’s friend belongs to a higher caste but he teats Bhim as an equal. He also supports Bhim in his fight against caste and gender discrimination. Bhim is seen trying to ask the villagers to not discriminate against the women from men. He calls them cowards for asking women not to pursue education. This lands Bhim in trouble but his friend saves him. Later, Bhim’s sisters Tulja and Manjula get mocked at for pursuing education and not getting married.
Ramji is seen supporting his daughters. Tulsa and Manjula are faced with a challenge by the villagers. They run a blindfold race. The villagers try to misguide them but Manjula wins the race proving their point. On the other hand, Bhim visits the vaidya and gets a new identity. His mother faces the consequences of her not accepting the treatment. Bhim’s brother Bala becomes a problem child and rebels. He runs away. Meanwhile, Bhim faces the casteist rules along with his father. They are asked to wear brooms around their necks. they even get saved from a murder planned by the villagers.
