Abhijeet Khandkekar is enjoying his successful run in Zee Marathi‘s Mazhya Navryachi Bayko where he plays the role of Gurunath. His character is responsible for tearing Radhika apart by placing obstacles in her path. Gurunath is currently on his way to acquire Radhika’s company with Maya’s help. The actor may come across as a devil on screen but is actually the gem of a person in real life. Abhijeet was at his candid best during a recent live session on Facebook where the actor made some interesting revelations about himself. 1. Abhijeet belongs to the whole of Maharashtra, quite literally!
The actor was born in a town called Ahmednagar in Maharashtra. Since his father was a banker by profession, Abhijeet and his family were forced to shift from places like Ahmednagar, Beed, and Parbhani before settling in Nashik. The actor then moved on to Pune for further education and later landed up in Mumbai for his work assignments. Abhijeet has travelled across the state and can therefore proudly say that he belongs to the whole of Maharashtra.
2. His long-awaited dream
Participating in a reality show and then ending up acting professionally is a dream for many aspiring artists. However, we were surprised to find that Abhijeet is yet to fulfil his long-awaited dream. Having touched success by becoming an actor, Abhijeet still dreams of becoming an army officer. The talented actor expressed his desire to serve the nation during the live session. We hope that his dream does come true someday!
3. Abhijeet was an NCC cadet during his college years
Abhijeet’s passion for joining the army developed when he part of the NCC during his formative years of college. The actor felt grateful that he was an NCC cadet which was instrumental in shaping his personality and turning him into a gentleman that he is today. He considers the NCC years as some of his golden days in his life.
4. The actor was awarded as the Master of Ceremonies in the Republic Day parade
Thanks to his NCC connection, Abhijeet was selected for the Republic Day parade at Delhi in 2004. The actor managed to win the award of being the Master of Ceremonies for his anchoring skills. Abhijeet was presented the honour in the presence of the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and President Dr. A. P. J Abdul Kalam. Woah! Can you believe it?
5. Abhijeet has worked in the first-ever commercial musical play in Marathi
Apart from being an amazing anchor, Abhijeet has left his mark in theatre as well. Did you know that the actor was also a part of the first-ever commercial musical play called Ye Re Ye Re Paisa to be produced in Marathi? Abhijeet had appeared in the musical alongside Tejaswini Pandit, and his wife Sukhada Khandkekar who choreographed the dance sequences in the play.
