The latest ZEE5 And Alt Balaji Original, Virgin Bhasskar, is a funny social comedy with Anant Joshi and Rutpanna Aishwarya in lead roles.

The latest ZEE5 and Alt Balaji Original, Virgin Bhasskar is a sex comedy starring Anant Joshi and Rutpanna Aishwarya in leading roles. However, it is deceptive at first glance. It uses comedy smartly to talk about a number of issues considered taboo from the whole danger of freely available porn and the importance attached to losing virginity.

The story revolves around a porn writer Bhasskar and a smart and independent UPSC student Vidhi. However, the whole cast including TikTok stars with minor fame, foreign belly dancers among others make Virgin Bhasskar a sex comedy which is also a social comedy much in the vein of movies like Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and Vicky Donor.

Watch the trailer for Virgin Bhasskar here.

Bhasskar is a porn writer who stays on rent in Varanasi (Benaras). Every time he leaves his house, the landlord’s son uses his house to satisfy his physical urges with the latest woman who he manages to woo. Bhasskar pretends to be upset with this but uses these stories in his erotic novels much like Savita Bhabhi. Bhasskar is shown to have a special ability as a 26-year old virgin, who can see the the condition of the bed and imagine what must have happened on it. This is quite a low-life and degenerate character but Anant Joshi’s shy and awkward portrayal of Bhasskar makes him lovable and even relateable.

Vidhi is an independent and headstrong girl who is ready to fight for her right to dry her lingerie outside without being judged. Rutpanna Aishwarya makes a seamless shift from TV to web series with this bold role of a small-town girl who, in a way, makes the first steps in talking to Bhasskar. Her character goes against the whole stereotype that women don’t want sex but she makes it clear when she is uncomfortable too. The series revolves around how Vidhi falls in love with Bhasskar but struggles to come to terms with the shadier side to his character as Bad Boy Bhasskar.

Dherendra Kumar Tiwari and Himanshu Arora play the roles of Bhasskar’s best friends in a way that makes him more relatable. Durgesh Kumar who was earlier seen in Dhadak and Highway, plays the role of the erotic novel publisher. In the fifth episode his line ‘Kya Hai Har Cheez Ka Parinaam? Sambhog!’/’What is the result of every situation? Sex!’ is almost a summing up of the entire series.

The production successfully brings out the feel of life in Benaras, backed up by dialogues and dialects that strongly evoke a similar feeling. The title track of the the show ‘Pyaar Ka Saregama‘ supports the show and is a peppy number.

Watch Ayushmann Khurrana play the role of a female call girl in the movie Dream Girl, released on ZEE5.
